Our Process
Once the roof is done you do not see what has been installed underneath; therefore, we take pictures of step by step that we provide to our clients and they have the right idea what has been installed. The first step we take before starting a project, we make sure that the surrounding work area is protected. The proper roof installation starts with ice and water shield 3 ft from eaves upward on all around the eaves perimeter (by Ontario building code) and the rest of the roof area has roof underlayment felt/synthetic paper.
Ice and water shield is installed along the eaves line because that is the area where ice dams mostly happen. The width of the ice and water shield installed depends on the slope/pitch of the roof, standard is 3Ft. pitch from 4/12 and up where pitch is under 4/12 the ice and water shield has to be installed 6Ft. from the eaves. Next, we start with the starter line and then the shingles will follow. On the valley area, there should be installed ice and water shield before the metal valley is installed.
Around the chimney and against any wall area where flashing will be installed, the installation of ice and water shield is mandatory to avoid any moisture behind the flashing.
